GC Prevue

Dear PCB-POOL® participant,
Our PCB-POOL® prices are so finely calculated, that we have to work very efficiently and if possible without queries. Please send us your data in CWK Format (the newer Prevue version = GWK), which is set up with help from GC-PREVUE.

This has the following advantages:

  • You have the opportunity to check first , if your data is complete and correct.
  • Our CAM systems are compatible with the GC-Prevue format. We can view your data instantly !

We want to make this process as simple as possible for you.

In case you don't already have GC-PREVUE, you can get this software from our Internet site Downloads.

How can I enter in my data quickly?

ATTENTION! This manual is only valid for versions up to V.7.0!

After you have started your GC-PREVUE, enter into the LAYER-LIST, where your files are.

Your files can of course be called something else.

Following this click on the Menu-Toolbar on the top of the screen on FILE and LOAD LAYER (Ctrl+L).

Click on DRILL and OK.
Fill out the area as follows and click on OK.

Whole Digits, Precision, Abs/Inc, Zero Supression and Units specify the data format. Using an Editor look in your Drill file.

Way back when large harddrives had 10MB, the aim was to save memory so zeros and commas were left out of Gerber data ... (NB: great idea - hey ?)

Whole Digits and Precision tell you where the pressumed commas are. Whole Digits=number before the comma - Precision=number after the comma.

  • You have the security that you can check your data beforehand.
  • If there are zeros at the beginning and at the end of the coordinates, Zero Supression is: NONE.
  • If there are zeros at the beginning of the coordinates, Zero Supression is: TRAILING.
  • If there are only zeros at the end of the coordinates, Zero Supression is: LEADING.

Units - Are your coordinates in mm or in inchs ?

In 99% of cases you can leave the rest on Default.

Now you have entered in the Drill data. (The editing of the drill diameter follows later)

Now the same procedure for the Gerber data: Click on the Menu-Toolbar at the top of the screen on FILE und LOAD LAYER (Ctrl+L).

Click on Gerber and OK.

Fill out the area as follows and click on O.K. For the introduction of the Whole Digits. Precision, Abs/Inc, Zero Supression and Units. It's the same procedure for the Drill setting (see above).

Now you have entered in your Gerber data.
Don't forget to edit the APERTURE LIST, as well as the DRILL RACK to correspond with your layout software. The value, which you find in both tables are default values and don't have anything to do with your data.

Apperture-List

The graphics should now portray your Layout, as if your layout-editor did it.

At the end click on the Menu-Toolbar at the top of the screen on FILE und SAVE ALL (F6), give the file a name (ending CWK/GWK) and ... you are in the PCB-POOL®!

That's it - now you're a Gerber and NC-Drill expert ...

Should you still have any questions ... don't hesitate to ask.
